Meh. I like the casheshs. Stable relationships + IB salary = dream.

That's okay, but there's no need to speak for everyone else. You can have your set of preferences, and someone else can have theirs.

Living standards - so what? All I'm saying is that some people might not value that as much as someone else might!

Come on coblin, living standards vary wildly, even in this country, the scope is much larger than personal preference

No, I'm not denying that. Obviously, I'd prefer to have everything. However, with scarce resources, people must prioritise their use of resources. That is where your personal preferences come into play, and where you choose how much you will devote your energy and time into seeking material wealth, or non-material wealth.

if you are spending thousands of dollars on luxuries while other people don't have food to eat, then yes, you should feel guilty.

And what if the production of those "luxuries" provide employment for thousands of poor people?

those statements are spurious. Coblin wasn't discussing whether or not folks are better off with more money, he argued that ppl choose [in their humble opinions] the best possible trade-off between money and the other benefits they'd enjoy if they didn't choose the money, or "non-material priorities"
