Checking Suggested Answers

Hey all,

Just curious as to what your thoughts are in regards to checking the suggested solutions for the exams you complete. Do you check them? Why/why not? Would love to hear people's opinion on it.

Me personally, at the moment I probably can't. Not sure, it just seems too daunting and scary to do so. Maybe in a few days haha, or after my Year 11 exams.
The GOAL: Attain a RAW study score of 40+ in all my subjects.

Courses I would like to study in order of preference include: Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Biomedicine or Bachelor of Science.

2014: Biology [42]
2015: English Language [??] | Chemistry [??] | Physics [??] | Mathematical Methods (CAS) [??] | Specialist Mathematics [??]

I didn't check the solutions to any of my exams last year (Methods + Further) and I don't plan on checking my answers this year. Especially when it comes to subjects with two exams, I didn't want to risk being disappointed if I realised I lost marks on the first exam. The attitude going into the second exams is pretty important.

You'll eventually find out confirmed come results day in December anyway. :D

I absolutely cannot deal with not knowing how I went, so I've tried finding answers for all of my exams (except English) so far! Whilst it can be kinda crushing realising some of the silly mistakes you've made, I find that it's alot more comforting to know that overall, you did well and reminds you that you're not going to fail!

I did this for the psychology multichoice section and I regret it so bad. Realising just how much stuff I got wrong is really stressing me out because I'm worried now whether I can achieve ____. I'm finding it basically detrimental to my mental health hence my requested ban from exam boards (Nina if you're reading this ;))

If we were looking at the same answers (not sure if there's been more than one), there was alot of discussion over whether answers were correct or not, and I thought some of them might been off too? And plus, half the time you couldn't even understand what VCAA were even referring to they were so vague :(

I think there has only been one set so far (?) but yeah, you're right about the discussion bit.
Agreed on the vague thing..that seems to be VCAA's modus operandi this year. I hope the rest of exams aren't so brutal..but knowing the dogs that VCAA are, I'm not holding my breath.

I checked back this morning and some of them had been edited, so maybe look again? Yeah I sat Biology yesterday and they weren't too bad actually, however it seems like another company writing the questions, they're a bit different I thought? But hey if they do decide to be brutal, they're being brutal to everyone :(

I asked to banned from those forums since its just giving me anxiety haha, so I can't check it anymore :P

Oh really ? I heard some people thought biology was absolutely terrible - people said they got smashed by it/thought they failed/etc but hey, good for you if you think you did well ! I hope you did :)

Agreed ^^
VCAA questions never used to be so ambiguous or generally just bad. Apparently the panel changed or something ? Not really too sure. But I thought that was the marking panel ? I honestly don't know, but I really have to wonder what is going through VCAA's head right now..I mean, if the questions are so ambiguous doesn't it mean that it can be interpreted in more ways, hence more answers being correct ? Which if that is true, means they're just creating more work for themselves. I feel the marking will be extremely unfair and harsh this year and we're really going to suffer. #ripclassof2014

True..but there's always those geniuses that still find it easy which doesn't really help the rest of the state. So far most people have found almost all their exams pretty ludicrous..I hope you're taking notes VCAA ! >:(

Ahahah oh well, like 3 of them got changed so you probably got those extra marks! ^_^

I probably thought the Bio exam wasn't too bad because I was expecting to answer like 2 marks out of the whole thing ahaha but it seemed alot longer than other exams too, although same amount of marks!

YES WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON. All my teachers were saying 'look, VCAA are always quite on point with their questions, if they can be interpreted more than one way then they usually get edited or taken out completely'
Well that so did not happen this year :(

So true.

The bio exam reminded me more of NEAP exams I did before than the actual previous VCAA exams. There was far more application/ambiguous questions, and less easy one-markers.

30 minutes in, only completed the first two short answers (whole questions).

I was like "Shieeet"

But yeah not many easy markers, all applying information and the like.

Haha exactly the same thing as Zealous! Will definitely avoid checking my solutions till after I've at least finished Exam 2 for Methods but even then I have Year 11 exams the day after Methods so no time to beat myself LOL (have to pass Year 11 you know)!
