Shit. Only consolation is that these people will be punished (unless, of course, they are powerful people) and Delhi is actually protesting - showing that they will not be cowed down by such brutality and will fight against it.

There won't be a death penalty I don't think. It's rarely used in India (to the surprise of many).

These people are scum though. Assuming they aren't of any wealthy background they'll be sent to an Indian jail in which they'll be tortured for the rest of their lives. Not exactly humane, but I don't think anyone in particular will mind.

very true. it happens all the time, and the after effects of rape are far worse for indian women than for people in western society. Leaving the severe emotional and psychological scarring that results aside, indian rape victims are typically denied the privilege of getting married in the future, as they have now been 'defiled/used' (i dont get it either). These women then become prostitutes, as employers refrain from hiring them because society marks the rape as an 'affair that just took a nasty turn'. its terrible for these women, and a harsh penalty should be placed on these men. i honestly think nothing but death will bring justice
