Personally i believe Australia played well, we just got out outshined by the youngsters from Germany.
And the referee....SHOULD GET KICKED OUT OF SOCCER!!

how can you give a red card decision without justifying ur decision with the player u gave the red card too....
just a slack ref...with his pants up to his chest..

ref was a tosser.

australia didn't play well at all imo. the german strikers were left with so much space at the front, every single time. but when australia attacked, they were forced to take a quick/shit shot on goal cause of the defensive pressure

we got fucked up

there were two things australia did get outshun by germany but the tactics used were right after first 5 min u could tell that germany we going to get through the fofside trap. yet they didnt change it if they did the result might have been different.

imo the weakest point in australia's lineup is the centre backs...
soo many times the german players got played past the defensive line simple cuz we are
soo SLOW!!!...craig moore and lucas neil, if we are going to play those two..
have the defensive line back so they cant play long balls and run on to them.

we should be the coach! :P

We're just not a soccer nation, like Europeans are. Our cream of the crop aspire to play in the AFL rather than state soccer leagues. Those that play for oz are generally from a European background as well.
I say we ditch soccer, and focus on internationalizing Aussie rules

2-1 loss would have been a lot nicer than 4-0 haha.  It was demoralising...

centre backs do not need to be fast. england and france are the teams with notable centrebacks who are not known for their speed. full backs need to be fast in order to cover the runs.  reason why the defence got split upon on so many occasions was because there was no pressure from the midfield. pim really needed to shore up the area in front of the defence by playing two defence midfielders. milligan + grella would have been useful to protect the defence. aswell as having a target man (kennedy) to hold up the ball and wait for support.

have to concede that point, and agree with u :) the youth acads in aus just arent up to international standards, but were slowly
progressing. looks like until the FFA decides to put a whole heap of money into the development academies in aus..we just have to play with
what we got.

very nice point kopite

We're putting our money into getting kids to play the game first, by gunning for hosting rights 2022.

Craig Moore isnt slow anyway. Lucas Neill is a class act. The problem was we were way to high-up, they were both square on to each other and Pim refused to change that part of the tactics. Of course youre going to look slow when youre facing the other way that your opponent is running. Grella needed to wear Ozil too, he was too free.

I dont have any confidence in Culina playing anywhere but defensive mid. I think Carney should come in at left back and Chippers should move to left mid. Thats if harrys not fit. Emerton and Wilkshire on the right is strong though. I liked Garcia starting up front, Kennedy wouldnt have done much against two fellow beanpole centre backs.

I was happy to see Valeri too. Perhaps Culina drop to DM and Grella drop to the bench. Vinnie seems to be in it for a dirty tackle these days and not much else. Hes lacking mobility severely and against Ghana he could get skinned. Imagine how bad it could get if they had essien.
