Got my SoM - lots of odd numbered marks normal?

So I got my SoM and was pissed to see how many odd numbers I had for the final marks, about a third of all qns.
And for Q2, one of the markers for sure marked it wrong since the answers are either right or wrong, it was those fill in the blanks type qns. 

So is this amount of odd marks actually normal? Should I try get it remarked?

It's actually quite normal unfortunately   I've seen three statements for various subjects and all of them basically had odd marks (some had more odd marks than even!) It's just the way they do it I guess.

To give you an idea, my 120 mark exam (I haven't doubled the marks), 105 of which were short-answer, had 8 discrepancies.

Yeah, it happened to me and it blows.

Does anyone know if you can have it remarked an ask for full marks only?

Not a chance. You need an impeccable reason - like not even an excellent one. Then I do think you get full marks only because Chief Wiggum marks it. I know, it blows eh...

Sorry for my ignorance...but what is the issue with having odd marks? I just thought if it were marked by two people and there can't be a bigger difference of 2 marks between them, it's possible to get say 2 and 3 from the separate markers for 5 marks.

Yeah that's right... Just that if there are enough discrepancies you might be suspicious that one marker is being stringent and the other is being generous (or fair, you hope). But I think you have to accept that, the VCAA system of ensuring fairness in marking is pretty good IMO for the amount of assessment they have to process. They have quite a few safeguards in place and if you are unlucky enough to be on the lower end of reasonable variation then so be it.

Yeah I would've been ok with it if there weren't so much, but mine was about a third, so I was just questioning why there were such a large difference between the amount of marks they each awarded.

Hmm...interesting.. now that I look at my Classics statement, 7 out of the 10 questions/criteria are odd numbers. :/

Yep. Every statement I've received has odd marks. I suppose you could look on the bright side? Maybe you deserved the lower mark but you got an easy marker which boosted your score?

Yeah I guess I can, but it was Q2 that made it worse. I'm 99.99% sure I got it right and that one of the markers stuffed up since you can't be fair or strict on that type of qn, it was either right or wrong.
Seeing that, it just felt like the same marker decided to stuff up the rest of the qns as well lol.
