Black for all the details you need to fill in about yourself as well as the title if you're writing an essay. Otherwise everything else in blue pen.

I've heard from my old english tutor that blue pen is preferred as it is psychologically more easier to read.
I dunno about the validity of this claim tho.

^ think you're supposed to stick to black & blue for optimum legibility on photocopies.

1. Open 4-pen
2. Check which of  Blue or Black has more ink
3. Use the colour with more ink

:)

Just don't use green, they don't like that.
