Probably will have to give more detail for the engineering students to give you an educated answer. What do you want to study in the field of engineering?

I was told by a Melbourne Uni rep on open day 2011 that I'd be better off at RMIT for Aerospace.

I've been told by 1-2 people that RMIT is better for Engineering but I've also been told otherwise. I guess it's the first year at Melbourne doing Science that some people want to avoid so they pick an engineering course that goes straight into it, then do their masters. Melbourne does this in 5 years - 1st year Science to get you interested, next 2 years in your major (Mechanical, civil etc) then another 2 for your masters.

You'd need 85+ to get in comfortably I suppose, but there are always Seas applications if you don't get exactly what you need.

I'm picking UoM over RMIT as their pathway to Engineering leaves you (depending on which Master you do) with a degree that is recognised pretty much worldwide, whilst an RMIT degree is accredited by Engineers Australia only.

BSc. UoM. SMD.

+1, I picked Science over Mech Eng at RMIT. Did you pick Science too?

I know this doesn't mean much but, I know some people who graduated with B.Eng (Electrical) from RMIT, with a H2 average then started a M.Eng(Mechatronics) at UoM and immediately failed around half their subjects, even though the start of M.Eng (Mechatronics) is undergraduate subjects so, UoM might be more difficult...but I realise my sample space is extremely small.

I was told by a Melbourne Uni rep on open day 2011 that I'd be better off at RMIT for Aerospace.

Well, UoM doesn't even offer aerospace so, makes sense XP
