Psych SS - prediction

SACs - Unit 3 = 88/90, Unit 4 = 89/90
Unit 3 exam - A+ (78/90)
Unit 4 exam prediction - Hoping to get anything above an A

What kind of study score am I looking at? :)

Also, I'm ranked first in the SACs in a medium cohort :)

Hey can someone predict mine please?

Unit 3 sacs = 95/100
Unit 3 exam= A+ (i'm guessing a low-mid)

Unit 4 sacs= 98/100 (atm. but i'm guessing it'll go down because we still have one more assessment)
Unit 4 exam= Hopefully an A..but ideally, i'd love an A+

Oh, and I'm ranked 1st in a mixed cohort (a few really strong students, but there's also some medium-weak students)

What range of study scores would I be looking at?
Thanks :)

It mainly depends on your U4 exam mark :) Since you're rank 1, you've got a slightly better chance at hitting a score in the early 40's to high 40's range if you can also get an A+ in the unit 4 exam :) If you can high A+ that, you can expect a score of something like 44-49 (could be higher or lower though depending on how high or low your A+ is) :) and are your sacs marked out of 90 or 100? :/ Even if you do get an mid-high A on U4, I think you can still expect an early 40's score because of your mid-year A+ and good sac average/rank :) Good Luck with psych and the u4 exam! :D

I'd say in the ideal situation it could be anything between 44-48 :) I had similar sac scores to you but I've no idea about the range of my A+'s in any of the exams :/ Once again since you're first ranked, you've got a slightly better chance at a 40's score (the range of this score depends on how you do in u4 exam and could be higher or lower than what I've mentioned depending on how high your A+ is in the unit 4 exam) :D But generally even if you do get a mid-high A in u4, you can still pull off an early 40's score as I've seen this happen with one of my friends :) Good Luck missyyy! ;)

In both of your cases, it's hard to pin down a certain score because the exam does have a huge influence and it can change things dramatically and let's face it, tbh VCAA's study score system is just weird! LOL  :P

Would obtaining rank 2 for unit 3 make much difference in a medium cohort? My situation's mostly the same as Hannah's apart from that (they don't tell us our ranks so I'm not sure though.)

Haha it wouldn't make much difference at all if you just perform well on your exam!  :D I was ranked 2 in psych and tbh I don't think it greatly affected my SS :) In the end, rank 1 got 49 and I got 48 - so I don't think it's such a huge difference :) As long as you're near the top and can perform well on your exam, you'll do awesome  ;D  ;D

No idea sorry haha I didn't bother getting a Statement of marks for either exam =/ But from what I remember last year (after checking out the assessment reports when they came out), I think I might've dropped around 8-12 marks in exam 1 and around 6-8 marks in exam 2 - can't be sure really, but that's just my estimate :)

Ohh okayy then my prediction before might not be right - I'd probably say like 40-43 if you can pull off a mid-high A in the end-of-year :) and if you can pull off an A+, then probably something like 42-45, depending on how high the A+ is :) Good Luck! ;D

If she's got first sac rank why does it make a difference what exact marks she got on the sacs? Not sure if I'm missing something.

I think it's because even if you're rank 1, your SAC grade range/numerical mark (not sure which) still gets sent into VCAA and is used in determining your SS - I'm pretty sure of this because I remember my teachers were always like "okay this is your sac average that's getting sent into vcaa bla bla". Although SAC marks are eventually moderated by your performance on the exam (and so shouldn't hold extreme significance), I think they still play a role in determining your SS in terms of your SS range? E.g. I think for the higher scores (like 45+ you do need to have a relatively high A+ sac range (or at least perform outstandingly in the exam to bring your sac grade to that level). How high that "high A+" needs to be is determined by VCAA's statistical reports which they publish on their site showing the range of scores for a A, A+, etc for both SACS and exams. Being rank 1 just means that you're "safe" in the sense that you have slightly greater access to the higher range scores and won't be impacted by "someone above you" flunking their paper on exam day - This doesn't mean that rank 1 is ALWAYS guaranteed the highest score; a high rank just provides you with stability and good chances of a high score - it won't replace your actual numerical sac marks or sac grade range that are sent into VCAA. I hope that what I'm saying makes sense LOL but yeaah that's just my understanding of it...someone please correct me if I'm wrong! :)

The numerical sac mark raw is useless as each school's SACs have a different difficulty. While I am not sure if the range of marks are sent in to help with scaling, I know that if you are first in SACs it has no effect as the SACSs could've been really hard or really easy, so the true exam mark will judge how good they really are anyway. If you are rank 1, you are in the best position, and your study score depends on your exam. :)
