Hey ATAR Notes! How are we all feeling?

Pretty nervous tbh, my exam results are supposed to come out on the 17th too :/

I feel your pain :(

Do you results even matter? Sorry if I'm being ignorant here, but as long as you pass, what are the benefits of having a higher score?

I'm not one who cares too much about the marks (I haven't looked at my last 2 exam marks, just checked if I was "high", "medium" or "low" to make sure it wasn't the latter haha). I'm a Bonded student, so technically if I'm not "low" (bottom 25%) I am exceeding myself anyway haha :P

Others really care and have numerical goals of like 80+ for the year. That's not how I like to go about it -> becomes competitive, encourages secrecy of study groups and whatnot, not the way I like to roll and not how I'd like the cohort to become (but I feel it is already).

*shrugs*

@Paul, I don't have the confidence of even passing haha (not modesty, just honesty)

im really nervous, but i only did bio this year :D ill probably be having a nervous breakdown next year for sure hahahah. anyone else do bio early? did you guys get higher/lower than what you were expecting? where you guys happy with it? im sooooo tense its not funny. im almost down to counting hours im so stressed. (seriously, blood pressure would be dangerously high if i was any older)

Hey i did Biology early in year 11 too! i was really nervous but i didn't know what to expect. My first time mid year getting a result i got a 'B'. I actually jumped up and down because i thought it was a really good grade haha, then i learnt the in's and out's of VCE results haha, whoops....... End of year i got a 'B+', and recieved a 35 SS at the end of the year via text. I was expecting a 37 but then i didnt know the diffucluty ect of getting a good score. Now im super happy with my 35 because i still beat around 80% of the state :) It's nerve racking, but the benefit of doing a subject in year 11 is knowing how hard you have to work in year 12, if you want to achieve high grades ect...

Thanks a heap katykins! this really helped! and yeah, its definitely a learning process. although, im in a pickle like vashappenin... my teacher thinks ill get a minimum of 44 raw (holy mother of pearl), and all i want is a 38 at best. i feel as though im stuck between a rock and a hard place, because there is a high chance i get around what i wanted, but less than what everyone else was expecting from me. my brother did biology early when he was in year 12 and got a 42, and because i am more studious than him (he seriously did nothing in vce), by default my parents think 48+ :'( its tooooo much pressure! ARRRGHH. all i want is a 37-38 so that i can have a decent platform to get into science @ monash/arts @ melbourne... i dont need atmospherically high scores :( but everyone thinks ill get them, and i have an ominous feeling that come the 17th, many people will be shocked and disappointed.

Just because you want a HD average doesn't necessarily mean you buy into cut-throat competition. Just saying!

Just because you don't mean for something to happen, doesn't mean it doesn't happen :P

Because, it is happening :P

Hey, if your teacher believes you can, it is a high possibility that you can get the scores you want. Teachers have seen so many people do their VCE they know how the system works. What is important is that you are HAPPY with your score. YOU and only YOU alone. I understand the pressure that surronds VCE, believe me. you will be fine, you sound like your in a great position already buddy! just have faith in your own performance and use this experinece as a practice for year 12, and the amount of study you are willing to put in, its a great gage. Best of luck! let me know how you go please, im concerned for your mental well being hehe :P just make sure you enjoy your final year as it goes so fast! its stressfull, yes. The waiting right now kills, yes. But think of the amazing feeling when its all over. Remember your doing this for yourself! :D
what a year it has been, thank goodness it is over, bring on a new chapter!

Very, very, very anxious.
Mainly because if i don't get over 80 ATAR i really don't know what to do (i need this min)
Makes me feel unhappy looking at courses less than this :(

arts at monash majoring in psychology

Arts last year was ~85(clayton), while science was ~80(clayton), so if you want to do psych at monash, this is a good second preference to have. It'll make it real easy to transfer into BA later too.

There's always other options such as Deakin!

Luckily I've been preparing for several medical interviews, so it's taken my mind off the count down to 'the day'.
Reading this thread, however, has reignited those doubts and fears.  I'm preparing for the worst so hopefully I won't be too disappointed.

It's only one subject! If it's in your bottom 2 it won't even matter much.

What's more important (and I assume you're in yr11), is that you learn form what worked and what didn't work in your approach to bio, to make sure your strategy for yr12 is improved :)

Good luck!

Last year I was hoping for 45+ and now I think 35 above will be fine. How weird ???
Year12 next year. I just didn't study seriously for Biology because Im in yr11 so I thought it is okay to just play without study. Hahah thanks pi!  ;)

It's been really worrying me a lot lately, I had a dream two nights ago that I got a 65 and was unable to do anything that I'd like, but I think my body is just anxious and over-reacting. Honestly, I don't think I'll get into my desired courses (check da sig brewskiz) so I'm hoping to get into pure Comp Sci and just be able to transfer.
