Is anyone else going to be using a moving service or are you all gonna be driving up? I'm looking at Seven Seas but that seems pretty expensive (think the boxes cost almost as much as the actual shipping! They'd better be super quality boxes lol)

I'm still waiting on the accommodation offer to arrive, but probably will be going up on the 8th or 9th. I'll be driving up.

probably around the 13th, will enrol late as I only get to Melbourne on the 10th from overseas. I think I'll drive up. Still haven't made up my mind as to whether or not I'll study in Canberra or at some uni in Victoria yet :\

I'd highly recommend driving up or getting driven up. Parking might be a little hard if you don't want to pay for it at your accommodation (UL charges way too much). What I did was drove up and took all my stuff then drove home and went back by bus a few days later. This is usually still cheaper than paying some service to move your stuff.

My parents will be away when I go up so I'll probably have to make two trips by bus, hmmm.

My only option is flying but they limit the weight of luggages  :( :( :(
Does anyone know any services to transport boxes and stuff from Mel to Canberra?

I'm confused at what you guys mean by needing to take "boxes of stuff"... I've lived both abroad and interstate for decent stints, and both times I only needed a suitcase. Unless you can't leave your stuff in the family home, there's really no reason why you need to take *everything* with you interstate.

Yeah that's what I was thinking! I thought I must be missing something.

I'm not sure about how much this relates, but when I came to Australia, to stay in a host-family for 17 months and go to school here and stuff, I had a 30kg bag + my laptops + coats/jackets. On the trip back however, 30kg bag, 30 hangluggage that I sneaked in lol

When I came to Aus, I had 2 bags 30kg so total is 60kg
After 2 yrs staying here, now I have > 100kg stuff LOL

I live at homestay in Mel (not my parents' house) thus if I wanna move to Canberra, I have to take everything with me

I brought way too much stuff when I moved. It's important to remember that Canberra has shops, so you don't have to organise everything before you get there.
