E-Books on iPad?

How do you get an e-book onto an iPad? If it comes in PDF then I know how to do it, but what if it's like a certain software/program?

Get an app, probably.
I'm using one called 'Cool Reader' on my Android phone

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.coolreader&hl=en

Surely the Apple place has apps for it too

I've got two accounts for various textbooks that are e-books, being a Cambridge Go (essentials/checkpoints titles) account and a JacPlus (usually for the Key Concepts/StudyOn titles), as both come with codes that you activate. The Cambridge Go is great because its a PDF that opens into iBooks on my iPad, but JacPlus is a pain because they only let you access the text if you have an Internet connection, meaning offline study with the Ebook is out of the question.

Idk, my eco textbook is on jacplus, and I thought I couldn't download a pdf version on the site and it was online access only, but then I combed the website for a bit and found the pdf version of the textbook.

Which I then put on to iBooks/adobe reader on the ipad.

If you have the e-book/PDF on you computer then you can use iTunes to put it on my iPad (Just sync it basically). Other than that, I used Dropbox to chuck it on (put the PDF file of the e-book in your Dropbox folder and then load it on your iPad. From there in the top right corner you can open it in iBooks and it should be saved in there to be viewed when offline).

Generally displayed through iBook which can be synced on iTunes. Doesn't have to be legal  8)

I download all my PDF's off Cambridge Go, JacPlus etc, the CD etc.. Then I copy the PDF over to itunes and then I make sure it syncs my books. Then it'll appear in iBooks :)

I tend to use syncplicity (Dropbox would also work). I put the PDF or ePub file into a folder that's shared with my iPad. Once it syncs, I can 'open in iBooks' in the syncplicity iPad app and everything is fine. I don't even have to plug my iPad into my computer (which takes close to forever).

Incidentally, for all you people with iPads here...is the 3G (or 4G if you have it) worth it. I was going to save some money by getting a wifi only model, because I figure I'll never need to use the 3G in a place where a) I won't have wifi or b) my phone won't do

I have the iPad 3 Wifi. Pretty much for the same reasons you outlined. I always have my phone on me. The only downside is that there is no GPS module in the wifi version. So if you lose it, you're pretty much screwed. Unless it's connected the internet. Or at least that's what I know.

The one thing that could (don't know the price off the top off my head) make me jump to a 3g from a wifi is its gps capabilities. If I knew that existed earlier, I would have got a better ipad instead of a separate navman

It's really not that hard to quantify..., but I believe that being raped once is not as bad as being raped five times, even if the one rape was by a gang of people.
