Subject Review Requests

Thought this thread might a good idea. The existing subject review thread is amazing but sometimes subjects you plan to do (like obscure arts ones cough cough) haven't been reviewed yet.

So I thought maybe here users could just ask if anyone has done a subject before and get either a short review ('Do it because...' or 'Don't do it because...' or 'Do it if....') or a full length review that could then go in the other thread.

University of Melbourne - Subject Reviews & Ratings

If you do post a review in the other thread according to a request here, make sure you come back to this thread with the link! (:

Just to kickstart, has anyone done 'SOCI10001 - Understanding Society'? Considering doing it sem 1 next year, would love some first hand info.

Sure, I'll do that one sometime this week. I did it last year. I can't recommend it highly enough! Super easy subject with absolutely no work. A pretty easy H1 if you ask me!

Oh ya, those fall in the same group w/ the Music Psychology/Health ones and Forests in a Global Context.

It'd be nice to get second opinions on PHYS30001 and PHYS30008. Both (only) reviews were written by the same person, and the subjects themselves can't be that bad, otherwise the coordinators would have changed them for the better.

Excellent idea.
Has anyone taken the following?
  • Comparative Nutrition and Digestion
  • Companion Animal Biology
  • Science, Reason and Reality

Were they demanding? Well-taught? Is 'Companion Animal Biology' as adorable as it sounds? Is the 2000 word assignment to pet kitties?! Would the knowledge gained from any be useful long-term, for example in third year physiology?

Please and thank you!

@Ballerina: Comparative Animal Physiology is probably more useful for physiology, and I've heard bad things about DASC subjects :/
