I have been lurking the forums for a while and I have a couple questions:
If i did International Security Studies/Bachelor of Languages, can i double major in Bachelor of languages?, so 2 languages. I also assume ISS doesn't have any majors.
I am from melbourne so i can't attend open day and i would love to move interstate to ANU.
For most double degrees you can double major in one of the degrees (assuming you have spare electives in your other degree that you can use for prerequisites). However, neither of the degrees you've picked allow you to double major. You can still do 2 languages though if that's what you're after. You're correct that you don't have a choice of major for ISS, however you do get to pick a minor and some of those minor options are languages. The B. Lang is a bit more confusing but I think it's saying that you can do a major or an advanced minor + a minor and as well as that you do another minor & have some electives.
The above is from
this website, which is useful but also tends to be very confusing.
For each degree of a double degree you need to do 96 units.
A major = 48 units
A minor = 24 units
One course = 6 units (normally, 12 unit courses exist too)
Each semester you do 4 courses so 24 units.
Would highly recommend coming up for the open day if it's at all possible. It'd be a good idea to have a look around the campus to get a feel for it, and also to be able to check out the different halls if you plan to stay on campus. There's an overnight (or during the day) bus (greyhound) from Melbourne which is about $80 each way, which obviously still makes for a very expensive trip, but is way cheaper than flying.
tl;dr you can't double major but you can do multiple languages.
