Studies of Religion URGENT!

Hello, can anyone help me break down this question in regards to sexual ethics?
"Sacred writings draw on the wisdom of the past even as they give voice to the issues and concerns of the present.” (Anon.)
Explain how Islam draws on the wisdom of the past to guide the ethical behaviour of adherents today.

please and thank you  :)

Hey! Welcome to the forums ;D

Essentially this question is just your standard ethics question, in that it wants how ethical principles of Islam are applied to modern sexual ethical issues. However, the question references sacred writings specifically, so it is wanting a more specific focus on references from the Quran and Hadith.

So, you'll be looking to explain ethical principles of Islam (purification of the nafs, the five pillars, that sort of stuff) and how they are applied to issues like contraception, abortion, premarital sex (etc). As you do so, look for sacred writings that support your arguments - That's the "wisdom of the past" bit. You can also absolutely reference scholarly ijma, or any other evidence you think works - But since sacred writings are in the quote, you'd want them in there ;D

Here's a guide on SOR essay structure if you need some ideas there. Good luck! :)
