Units needed for VCE certificate

Hi,

I am new to atarnotes and I am not sure to post this in the right section. If it is the case, sorry about that :)

In year 11, I completed the following subjects (unit 1&2): EAL, methods, economics, media, business.
Then this year in year 12 (unit 3&4), I did: EAL, methods, business and legal.

Is there the right amount of unit completed to get a vce certificate?

Also, something happened during the year which affected enormously my methods performance, is it possible to get a UG in the final exam?
and if yes, will I still be able to get my certificate?

Thank you very much

Hi there :) Yeah, you've completed the necessary amount of units to get the VCE. Your school would have brought it up if it was an issue.

RE: your methods performance - yeah, you can still get your certificate even if you do nothing in your exams. If it's an issue that has come up during your exams you can potentially apply for a DES (derived exam score) - I'd recommend speaking to your school (either your year 12 coordinator or vce coordinator) about that.

As long as you meet the unit requirements and get an S (satisfactory) for units 3 and 4, then you qualify for the VCE. Exams and the ATAR that is subsequently calculated only function to give you a rank.

Thank you K888. Just another quick question. On you statement if you "do nothing in the methods exams" what will be next to it? a UG??

Not sure tbh. I'd imagine you'd just get a study score that's low seeing as your SAC performance will also come into play for your marks.

Just wanted to add on to K888's response. Some of the details of a DES can be found here, including how to go about applying for one.

EDIT: Just realised you asked a similar question here. You can refer to that post for a couple more details.
