So these are my current plans for 2019

Summer:
FINA20035 Drawing with Anatomy (A bit nervous, since the best drawing I've done so far are of stick figures, literally)

Semester 1:
ANAT20006 Principles of Human Structure
BCMB20002 Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
BCMB20005 Techniques in Molecular Science

Semester 2:
BCMB20003 Molecular Analysis of Cell Function
PHYS20008 Human Physiology
PHRM20001 Pharmacology: How Drugs Work
UNIB20008 Drugs that Shape Society (Haven't really decided, just doing it for the sake of re-enrol)

Anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear them
2016-2017: CIE A-Levels
2018-2020: Unimelb BSc

i considered actuarial but instead did econ/fin and a maths diploma but i think you (M909) should consider doing micro and macro rather than international trade and corp valuation to give you a shot at eco honours or finance honours if your aiming for either of those (if one aim for other as well =) ) micro isn't as bad as some people make out and macro was best subject of my degree plus econ hoonours as well as finance are very good programs learning interesting material with very good job prospects... though some of the subjects weren't as rigorous mathematically they can get intense enough when you start adding in stuff (e.g. a derivative is pretty easy to price but what happens when you add bid-ask spread and you have a big binomial tree)... plus if you like inter macro macro is just as good =)

Just my opinion, but I did Drugs that shape last year and wasn't a fan. I am a science student with strong writing skills, so thought that I would have the opportunity to do well, but found that the peer assessed assignment brought me down (even I thought mine was quite good and put a lot of time in) and the exam was marked harshly. If you are really very interested in this subject area, go for it, but for an easier breadth I'd recommend Food for a health planet I,II or III or Thinking Scientifically (as a non breadth for sci students). Just my two cents!

As for my selections for next year:
Sem 1:
NEUR30002 Neurophysiology and Circuits
PATH30001 Mechanisms of human disease
PATH30002 Techniques for investigation of disease
UNIB30010 Food for a healthy planet 3

Sem 2:
PATH30003 Frontiers in Human disease
PHYS30001 Cardiovascular Health, genes and hormones
BIOL30001 Reproductive Physiology
UNIB20014 Food for a healthy planet 2

I like your choices for 2nd year. They're very similar to mine :) I would recommend Music and Health for 2nd sem just to make it a bit more chill

So 2019 will be a stressful year for me since I'll be doing 10 subjects but doing it so that I only have to do 3 subjects per semester in third year :P

Summer
ECON20002 - Intermediate Microeconomics

Semester 1
BCMB20005 Techniques in Molecular Science
MAST20009 - Vector Calculus
MAST20026 - Real Analysis
ANCW10001 - Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia (My final breadth but still not sure about it, so any other suggestions would be great)

Semester 2
MAST20030 - Differential Equations
MAST20022 - Group Theory and Linear Algebra
BCMB30010 - Advanced Techniques in Molecular Science
BCMB30004 - Cell Signalling and Neurochemistry (Might change this to another subject in the Biochemistry major)
VCE
2016 - 2017: | Biology | English | Methods | Specialist | Chemistry | Physics |
University of Melbourne
2018 - 2020: Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology/Applied Maths] at the UoM
Year I: | BIOL10004 | COMP10001 | CHEM10009 | MAST10006 | BIOL10005 | ECON10004 | BCMB20002 | MAST10007 |

Hmm if you're looking for a chill breadth, you could do music and health. I strongly advise it because Techniques will be a huge step up from what you're exposed to in Chemistry for Biosciences. Similarly, just keep an open mind whether you want to do Advanced techniques as a 2nd yr. Expect each and every day to be busy. As for BCMB30004, i feel it's one of the best subjects for Biochemistry. However, perhaps you shouldn't be too eager but rather do BCMB20003 because I felt it gave a huge help in dealing with the 3rd year biochem subjects and is a recommended subject for Advanced Techniques as given in the handbook.

I intend on doing the following subjects, though I would love any comments from people who have done deafness and communitcation or drawing with anatomy, since I’m really stuck between which I should choose:

February:
FINA20035 - Drawing with Anatomy OR
EDUC20069 - Deafness and Communication

Semester 1:
BIOM20001 - Molecular and Cellular Biomedicine (yikes)
BCMB20005 - Techniques in Molecular Science

Winter Intensive:
ITAL10008 - Italian 1 Mid-Year Intensive

Semester 2:

BIOM20002 - Human Structure & Function
PHRM20001 - Pharmacology: How Drugs Work

So I am planning to under-load my first semester of next year by taking only 3 subjects, but 3 really hard level 2 subjects, I am just wondering for anyone who has done both corporate financial decision making and econometrics 1, which one do you reckon is harder? I am trying to decide which one to take in semester 1... Also, financial accounting theory versus taxation law 1, which one do you guys reckon is easier for a 2nd year commerce student? Thanks ! :)

I did deafness and communication last semester. Not sure about the summer intensive, but the seminars for last semester were chill and the assessment was marked fairly imo and they were moderate/kind of easy especially if you've done essays before. The first one was a creative project and the second was an essay. You can choose your own topic for the first one and they give you five options for the second.

Choosing between a Microbiology & Immunology major (Infection and Immunity specialisation) or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major.
Leaning towards the former but really not sure about the subjects for Semester 1  :-\ :(
Any advice would be great :)

Summer:
BOTA20004 Flora of Victoria

Semester 1:
BIOM30002: Biomedicine: Molecule to Malady
MIIM30002: Principles of Immunology
MIIM30011: Medical Microbiology: Bacteriology
MIIM30016: Techniques in Microbiolgoy

Semester 2:
BIOM30001: Frontiers in Biomedicine
MIIM30014: Medical Microbiology: Virology
BIOM30003: Biomedical Science Research Project

They are both reasonably chilled. I reckon CFDM is harder

Which topics did you find most interesting in MCB and what do you see yourself more willing to study? Similarly, what do you plan on doing after 3rd year? If you wanted to go into honours, some of the techniques that you learn in the majors could be a huge boon going forward.

Also: BIOM30003 is the best subject I did in undergrad - great choice. Do you already have a project/supervisor in mind?

Summer
CHEM10004 - Chemistry 2

Semester 1
ANAT20006: Principles of Human Structure
PHYS20008: Human Physiology
MIIM20001: Principles of Microbiology & Immunology
BLAW10001: Principles of Business Law

Semester 2
BCMB20002: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
MIIM20002: Microbes, Infections and Responses
PATH20001: Exploring Human Disease - Science
SCIE20001: Thinking Scientifically

How much workload should I be expecting from these subjects? Do you think the bludge subjects are good? (BLAW and SCIE).
Also, are there any more easy winter/summer subjects?

After a lot of thought about what I wanted to do post-grad, finally decided on my subjects for my final year of undergrad (yikes)!

Semester 1
MAST30020: Probability for Inference
MAST30025: Linear Statistical Models
ECOM20001: Econometrics 1
ATOC30008: Atmospheric Processes and Composition

Semester 2
MAST30001: Stochastic Modelling
MAST30027: Modern Applied Statistics
ENGR30002: Fluid Mechanics
SCIE20001: Thinking Scientifically

Just the typical stats major pathway. Trying to not kill myself with the workload next year (given how badly balancing two jobs, a social life and uni went for me this year)
