Super stuck on related texts for:
Explore how human behaviors may be motivated by Fear and Self-preservation in 1984

Was told not to pick related texts of the same form i.e Can't choose a novel

Any Ideas?

Hey!
What an awesome topic- I imagine it would be super fascinating to write about (or maybe that's just the english nerd in me).

I don't know the HSC system so I don't know if any of these would be suitable but off the top of my head:
- Hamlet (contrasts a lack of self-preservation with a selfish amount)
- Dickenson's "Afraid? Of Whom am I Afraid?" (presents a case as to why we should not fear either life or death, not allowing fear to motivate us)
- Macbeth (fears being caught for murder and so continues his descent in order to try and preserve what is left of his life and reputation)
- Browning's "Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister" (bringing another down to try and boost yourself, sort of self preservation/preservation of status)

Good luck!
