when you save it... in save as

theres  adrop down menu just under where you put in the name of the file

you pick jpeg or gif or watever you want. (gif usually for animation, jpeg for still frames... also jepg is a lot smaller size-wise (lol@rhyme) so its better for internet useage)

See how the file name has .jpg on the end... the file extension on the end usually lest you know the file type :p

Oh, also...youre using imageshack, they have  abox you can tick just before you upload that lets you remove the "resolution and size from thumbnail" tick it, and you wont get that crappy writing on the bottom

PNGs are better quality-wise, but can often be quite big size-wise. I'd suggest to use PNGs when possible.
GIFs are limited to 256 colours, and support transparency. JPEGs are "true colour" but use "lossy" compression (so the image quality is reduced) and do not support transparency. PNGs are the best, they're "true colour" and also support transparency.

Yeah, I always use PNGs, especially PNG-24Bit excellent quality and great transparency. Always use it for graphic-design works.
