I just got an email from one of my engineering subjects that said that it was recommended that Engineering students have this software program called "MATLAB"...

Its pretty expensive....

To pass Engineering students: Did you use MATLAB alot and is it necessary?

Matlab is a matrix-based programming language...very handy for such calculations.

You should be able to use it free at uni anyway...

If her course prescribes Matlab, she'll have to use that as it is also a programming language (whilst being a mathematical modelling software package)..
