btw off topic: does anyone know when is the final date which we can drop sem 2 units and change to something else?

Deadline to change units is July 30.
Deadline to just straight drop (not change) a unit without penalty is August 16.

am i doing this right, lets say when i select a unit which i have selected all mine for semester 2 and i want to drop one what i do is i add another one and just cancel one thats already there. In some cases it says discontinued despite semester 2 not even starting yet? is that alright?

Yes.

I changed from AFC3120 to AFC2131 a couple of days ago.
Your internal records look a bit screwy (the discontinued units show up on these), but it will NOT appear on or affect your transcript.
I have 4 or 5 'discontinued' units on my internal records because I've shuffled my units around... it doesn't make a difference to anything.

seeing as most ppl found it rather hard would they be a touch lenient when marking this semester (mostly if u get like 48 or 49ish%)
or r they assholes depresed at the fact they spent half their lifes doing accounting?
