What's the main difference between an ERC place and a Bonded Medical place?

So, ERC allows you to take up a metropolitan internship but Bonded means you will be placed in an area of workforce shortage?

But ERC means you spend 2 years away from Melbourne (as opposed to Bonded?)

Thanks

These differences can be found on the VTAC blurc for the course, and the link tooth posted.

Basically, a bonded spot means for every year of medical education you receive, you spend one year working in an area of designated need. These years do not have to be taken straight away, but you are obligated to complete them. Bonded spots are different from ERC as ERC spots have no post grad obligations. You spend 5 out of 6 clinical semesters in a rural location during med school, though 5th year runs a bit differently, so it might be a little bit less or more, dependent on you.

You can be be both bonded and ERC.

Bonded students can still take up metropolitan internships, but you have to fulfill your obligation eventually. But like i said, it's easy to tell which kids had ERC as "a backup" and simply won't enjoy their time in years 3-4 and perhaps even most of 5.

Hey guys.
I thought maybe you guys would be interested in this youtube video.

I'll start by saying its about and made by a Monash Med student (did that grab your attention lol)
It's basically about his life... from VCE into Med and the transition it took. The great thing about it is that he does it in a really comical way which made it really interesting. His names James Callea (his cousin is Anthony Callea lol) and yeh he's a friend of my cousin. I just watched it and I really enjoyed it.... Maybe once some of you guys have watched it I'll tell you some recent updates on how he is going in Med....

No, not really.

But none of the internash students have any idea where I live.
When any1 asks, 1 of my Thai friends is just like "Don't ask, just don't ask. It's reeeally far."

The travel time is a bitch.
Srsly.
And the tolls.
$10.80 a day...?
Ha ha... no, instead I take Kings Way, which adds an extra half hour travel each way.
Public transport?
No.
Try 2 hours each way, trapped like a sardine under some old guy's armpit.
I'll stick with 3 hours travel compared to 4.
As it is I get up at 6.30am, and don't get home until bout 7pm.
Then I'm still sposed 2 find the energy 2 study when I get home.

Mr. Callea isn't exaggerating when he complains bout it.
Ppl who live in the dorms piss me off when they're late and complain about the traffic ::)
They're so damn close they could just walk.

Classic moment: 1 of my carpool buddies was an hour late for class. Y? Bcoz there was a boat accident on the highway. Naturally, the next Q 1 would ask is: How u can have a boat accident on the highway? Answer: U r an idiot and do not winch ur boat on2 the trailer properly and lose it in the middle of the highway, blocking 2 lanes of traffic. Boat accident. Highway. Pissed off Fyrefly.

/rant.

U jst had 2 ask Costa :P
