I'm not here to start a long endless discussion but just quick responses on which you would prefer. Engineering (civil) at Monash or Melbourne?

Thanks

OK thanks. Would it still be worth it for a 40-45 minute travel(to Monash) where RMIT would be 10-15 minutes?

You should ask yourself whether it's worth it for you.

I got 99.80 and am going to RMIT. (1) You get work experience at RMIT and not at Melb. (2) RMIT teach project based learning so its more practical (less theory shit which is heaped on you at Melb especially). (3) Its across the road from Melbourne Central Station. (4) Melbourne is officially shit (my careers person was saying half the staff left last year cos they hate the new model). Melb just has pretty gardens (5) In heavy traffic Monsh takes up to two years to get to (cbf). (6) You can do Civil and Management at RMIT (Which is what I'm doing) so you'll have good business skills when you graduate (I know Monash has that too but an extra 1 hour of driving EVERY DAY for 4 years = lots of pointless hours being forced to listen to some gay Beyonce song on the radio)

RMIT has always been well regarded for its engineering department (I hope I dont sound like I work for them...I dont, I swear)

Hope that helps  :D

i've know people who got 60 and have been accepted into rmit engineering through SNAP lol. But hey if you want to use that 99.80 for RMIT then go for it. I hope you're getting a scholarship?

wow, 99.8, think of the endless possibilities. I would go to Monash, even if it meant wasting hours on driving. But thats just me.

With an enter of 99.80, Monash would certainly offer you a scholarship

RMIT have good work placement programs. I know two RMIT eng graduates. One is manager at Origin Energy and lives in Eaglemont and the other has a three storey house. yes, I did get a scholarship for Monash but I really dont know if its worth the cost of buying a car, the petrol, the insurance, the rego, etc, etc...
And no, as much as it sucks, RMIT dont offer any scholarships (or they didnt to me anyway)

That's weird, if I were RMIT I'd be offering you a scholarship in a second. I'm actually going for a scholarship at RMIT myself, but they let you know if you're eligible/got an interview for it when the offers come out.
