one of my friends also got 3 A+ for 41
and another friend got 2 A+ and 1 A for 40

hope this helps :)

it got scaled to 39 last year coz the exam was longer. Bio doesn't get scaled up generally. It usually goes down 1 or stays

it has absolutely  nothing to do with the length of the exam

That's not quite true either.
Longer exam = fewer people finish exam = exam seems harder = scores spread out more. So length of exam can affect scaling.
Biol SS has scaled up 1 since forever.
Just back from spending the year at Oxford. Now onto final year Monash MBBS.

Scaling is more related to how the Biol cohort does in their other subjects. If the average person getting 30 in Biol gets 37 in their other subjects, then Biol will scale up heaps to counter the idea that it was hard to get a high SS in bio. What Biol scaling up 1 means is that the cohort in general does a little better in their other subjects but not much.

But because the study scores are all relative, the actual difficulty of the exam has very little to do with it, other than make it easier to lose a bunch of marks and still get a good raw SS.

What i meant was, scaling is irrelevant to how people perform in that subject. I was referring to overall scaling at end of year, not exam cut off grades or scores needed to get a 50.

I got A (pretty sure I lost like at least 20 marks), A+ (lost 4), A+ (SACs) and 42. Not all is lost with a 'poor' U3 :)

Couple of my mates got A, A+, A+ and got 41 too!

40+ is still possible.

Back when I did bio i got A in mid year and thought any chance of 40+ was over. I ended up getting A+ for SACs and end of year and got a 45. So if youre disappointed with your mid year mark don't give up. Its hard to predict what you will get exactly. My friend got 3 A+ that same year and got 40. It all comes down to what kind of B+/A/A+ you get
