I had this same conundrum fairly recently. I went with the Pro - no regrets. The lack of USB ports is my only gripe.

What will you be using it for predominantly? Just uni stuff?

Depends what you would be using it for. If it's just for uni and you won't be using much software, the Air should be enough IMO (cheaper + lighter)

Yeah, just uni stuff. I do play around with Lightroom and Photoshop a bit too, and I was thinking of getting Final Cut Pro as well. Both seem to run fine on the Air, but I don't use them all that often either.

The Air is insanely cheap right now because of Black Friday, but I don't know if it's silly to invest in an Air from 2015?

The cheapest I've found (in-store) is $1299 for the Macbook Air 13" at Officeworks, or the Macbook Pro 13" for $1689 at Harvey Norman.

Idk what it's like with sales but usually you can go into JB Hi Fi and get them to cut you a deal - so you could end up with something cheaper
