I've never had any wisdom teeth. This fact makes me feel young.
I always knew you were an anomaly.
(Reason #4592 Why I'm Jealous of Nick - he never had to suffer wisdom teeth. >:( )

meant to get mine out soon. Planning on it Dec-Jan. I got private health insurance for this very purpose - now the wait period has passed i'm free to do it whenever but i freak out over anaesthetic and surgery.

.....actually, continuing on from my last post - my wisdom teeth haven't erupted yet but apparently it's recommended to get them out before they do come out.

You'll be okay! I had nine teeth out at the same time, and ngl it hurts a lot for a couple of weeks, but it's vastly better after that, and it'll help your dental health/hygiene later in life, too. You'll get through it no problemo!

Dude mad coincidence, I had nine out at the same time as well!

I was a bit nervy about this as well, but honestly all I remember is suddenly getting very cold, and before you know it you wake back up with a sore and bleeding mouth! Definitely felt weird, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be :)

I feel you on freak over the actual medical procedures! Although learning  about properties of anaesthetics hasn't actually eased my mind.

Pretty sure mine haven't ruptured either tbh- but I don't think about teeth very often either 😅

Yeah, there's no getting around the fact that you're being forced into (depending on your situation) either local numbness or complete unconsciousness, but it's a standard procedure that tens of thousands of people go through every day. I went completely under. With this, you can ask for numbing patches on your arms if you don't want to feel them insert the IV, and when you're going under they just put a mask on your face and ask you to count down from ten. My surgeon was lovely, and I had an orderly that insisted that the tooth fairy was real, so they do make an effort to keep you happy if you're willing to banter. The best thing is to just look outside of your situation and find something to laugh at. :)

Back when I made the decision to get braces I had to get 4 premolars removed. One in each corner.

And during my period of braces my wisdom teeth came out and I've had no problems with them since. Am I an odd one out?

I need to get mine out at some stage, I've been putting it off for at least 2 years and am still putting it off despite getting an infection this year from one of my wisdom teeth that gave me the worst pain I'd experienced in my life...

I find my fear strange, because I've had 3 orthopaedic surgeries before that are a lot more full on than getting teeth removed and that didn't bother me at all 😂 Can anyone else relate?

It's pretty normal to freak out. But seriously, say that you are a little nervous and 90% of the time, the dentist or dental assistant themselves will be a little gentler and/or offer additional help.

You: Oh.

Haha.

This morning at home is was bucketing and a massive storm. I drove up to Bendigo today and by the time I got on the Calder freeway it went from the biggest storm ever to being a perfect sunny summers day.

What da heck is wrong with Australian weather in general?
