The fact that Greenland was called Greenland to try and convince people to live there because it is so inhospitable and the dude banished there was lonely cracks me up every time I think about it.

I used to (a few years ago now) go exploring on google maps to find isolated nooks and you wouldn't believe some places in the middle of nowhere that are inhabited. One of the ones I was really fascinated about was the Pitcairn Islands. Go searching if you don't know where it is!

Maybe it's supposed to be simply confusing or illogical? I've heard some people enjoy "playing pranks" where the "pranks" are intended to be plain confusing and the "prankster" just wants to watch your face go "whaaaaat?".
