Today I received a package with stamps from 1981...

5x22c stamps and 3x30c stamps adds up nicely to $2 postage.

Random thought #1: Fucking VLine

Random thought #2: Fucking VLine

Random thought #3: Fucking VLine

Random thought #4: Fucking Metro

Random thought #5: Fucking VLine

An old post, but a pretty good summary of my day today. The VLines weren't any worse than usual and there were actually no major disasters, but I still hated every minute of it.

That's no fun :(

Is it weird that I've never have had much problem with Vline, but usually can't go a day of travelling into the city without complaining about Metro? :')

To be fair, VLines are generally a lot more pleasant than Metropolitan trains. There is heaps more space, designated quiet carriages and generally, you get a set of seats to yourself. I had to catch four trains today and the last one from Southern Cross on the Hurstbridge line killed me. I mean I got a seat but I was surrounded by people. (ew) I think that I would probably hate Metro less if there were fewer replacement busses.

VLines good when it's actually trains. Seems like on some lines it's constantly bus replacements

Fair. At this point, I question whether or not there are actually tracks to some places or if they just tell us that.

To be fair, Bendigo and Geelong (the main ones I catch) are mostly running. (Except evening Bendigo ones atm I think.) And if they're not, I tend to postpone my trips hahaha. I hear that the Gippsland line is running fairly infrequently.

Honestly the fact that I have to look up my train and see if it running (rather than check the time) EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to catch it is what frustrates me the most.

To be fair, the busses and train I take to work has also been super disrupted this year so I'm mad at Metro as a whole, not just specifically VLine.

Like laura_ said, Gippsland is a shocker haha. Used to live on that line and it's been pretty bad for the past few years with months upon months of bus replacements. I think a big problem is the lack of a duplicate track so the VLine trains have to travel on the same line as Metro from Pakenham inwards so massive delays if they get caught by a stopping all stations. And then obviously there's been big (but necessary) disruptions with all the level crossing removals. And I think there always seems to be some signalling or track maintenance happening.

Glad I don't have to rely on PT anymore haha. Amazing when it works well but horrendous when it doesn't

Dreaming of the day when I'll be able to drive... the cost of running a car is more than a little offputting though.
