Just another question guys, since I will have to take the Undergraduate-->Postgraduate pathway if I want to undertake Medicine in coming years, I have selected a few Unis for my course selection (through VTAC). As I really don't understand which Uni is better than the other, and also as I can't get in touch with my VCE Coordinator any time soon, I would like your advice on my list of preference of Unis. I would like you to let me know which Unis should go where on the list according to your understanding please, also, if I have missed any Uni for Undergraduate Biomedicine or Science, could you please let me know.

(Also, I don't think I will be achieving an ATAR of 99.90+, so should I remove the Chancellors programs from my list?)

Please use numbers assigned to courses on the list for your convenience when referring to a course :)

Thank you again :)
No Monash BSci or BioMed? And yep, you can't get 99.90 then remove it, put something else that'll benefit you :)
(you can changed preferences when ATARs come out anyways)

Thanks Reus. Also, I just thought Clayton would be really far to travel  to every day, which is why I didn't put that in. :)
Yeah, would have to agree the travel is a con but wouldn't mind it hahaha  ;D

As far as the Monash thing goes - that's understandable, Monash is pretty far away.

Having said that, if you don't go to Monash for your undergraduate, that automatically rules you out of a potential place in the graduate Monash medicine course, since they take only students who have done an undergraduate degree at Monash (with a heavy preference to Monash Biomedical Science graduates).

As far as the other medical schools go, Melbourne is the only other medical school to have prerequisites - being 2nd year Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. Here is a link to the subjects from other universities that are considered equivalent to these three prerequisites:

http://sc.mdhs.unimelb.edu.au/sites/studentcentre/files/VIC-Prereq-Subjects-last-updated-18Nov2014.pdf

If your subjects don't appear here, this means that they haven't been previously assessed. Hence, if you think your subject meets the pre-requisites, then you have to apply to Melbourne University to have your subjects assessed to see if they meet the prerequisites.

Looking at these prereqs, your best bet is to go with La Trobe (after your Melbourne/Monash preferences) Biomedical Science, then La Trobe Science. RMIT, Deakin and the other universities seem to be a nightmare in satisfying the pre-requisites.

Hope that helped!

You can still apply for UoM MD, Deakin MBBS, and other interstate courses!

(I don't think there is a way of "repeating" unless you fail units -in which case you wouldn't be likely to get a spot anyway!)

Suppose that one undertakes Bachelor Of Science at Monash, will they be able eligible for postgraduate Medicine at  Melbourne after that degree? I am confused because I couldn't see anatomy in Monash's Bachelor Of Science, which is why I wanted to ask this. Thanks :)

You can do DEV2011 and DEV2022 to satisfy those requirements.

What is that?

They are second year units in Developmental Biology (with quite a focus on anatomy), which will satisfy the second year anatomy unit requirements for Med at Melbourne uni. Reviews for these units can be found here credit to nerdgasm and alondouek.

If I was to do a double degree in BSci and B.Global Studies (Monash) but looking to do post grad med do my scores in B.Global Studies affect my WAM in attempt to make the 75 spots available?

Hmm, I thought it was just the WAM in the core Biomedical Science subjects and not the electives or the other part of the double degree that counted - just for the purposes of Monash MBBS.
