When to buy books

Should I wait till the end of first week when unit guides are handed out? Or buy them now?

Well, i reckon its probably a better idea to wait untill end of first week.

Just incase they make any alterations or need to mention something or tell you which books you actually *need*.

They might warn you to not buy a 2nd hand book for X reason as well (i've seen this for one of my subjects).

Don't have much to lose by waiting i reckon but then again a lot of the 2nd hand books on monash marketplace might also get snapped up by then so its up to you.
