Has anyone here done any outside uni reading for financial maths/quant trading type areas? Looking for book suggestions that I can get super lost in finance. I do believe someone was talking about the algorithmic trading subject earlier so I'm wondering if you have any background knowledge/suggestions.

Thanks :D

Hello everyone! I applied for the undergrad course; bachelor of music performance at UoM for 2017 entry and I was just wondering
when do I receive notice of how I went in my audition, and in what form would the notice be in?
Thanks very much!! :)

Hi everyone,
I want to ask a question about sitting the GAMSAT, and haven't chosen not to ask on Pagingdr, in case, I might get shot down for asking a stupid question.
I've sat the GAMSAT twice before on one ACER account and I'm going to make a new ACER account, using my Unimelb student email.  Does using your University student email disadvantage you in applying for med at other unis. I'm thinking that if they knew I was a Unimelb student, they might dismiss me as an applicant?

I can't confirm whether this would be a disadvantage but why would it?
if you're concerned about this make a new outlook/gmail/etc account, will take < 5 mins

also you can sit the GAMSAT multiple times with different accounts?!?!?!?!!

No it wouldn't be a disadvantage. Neither would multiple accounts be an advantage? When you apply for med, you just choose the GAMSAT score you want to use..

Nope the only limits on amount of times you can take exams medicine wise in Australia is for some medicine specialty exams if I'm not mistaken. Also when applying for postgraduate medicine in Australia you don't get punished for taking it multiple times whilst in the USA from what I know you are looked at less favourable with multiple attempts of their version of the GAMSAT - the MCAT.

Hi.

I am thinking of doing astronomy in world history. Can anyone give me a review of this subject or can anyone recommend any febraury intensive subject breadth?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Pros:
Lectures can be pretty cool and interesting, especially as you get to see the advances in astronomy, both in theory and in equipment
Subject is very chill; no exam
Lectures recorded
Field trip to look at stars and chart their movements through the sky is very interesting
Can pass subject without following the lectures at all

Cons:
The essays don't seem related to the coursework, although that's maybe a feature of arts subjects
Essays suck (I'm a science student, so I'm biased)
Readings are a pain to do in the holidays (trust me, they piss you off really quickly especially if you want to just relax)
2012
Mathematical Methods (50) Chinese SL (45~52)

2013
English Language (50) Chemistry (50) Specialist Mathematics (49~54.9) Physics (49) UMEP Physics (96%) ATAR 99.95

2014-2016: University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Science, Diploma in Mathematical Sciences (Applied Maths)

2017-2018: Master of Science (Applied Mathematics)

2019-2024: PhD, MIT (Applied Mathematics)

Accepting students for VCE tutoring in Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and Physics! (and university maths/physics too) PM for more details

How can I change my "course stream" via the student portal when enrolling my subjects? Essentially I want to change my major, so I can select different subjects other than those which are available to me right now.

I'm not sure how it's different in Commerce, but I know at least from Biomed that your student centre can change your major, but you can't
