VCE VET Interactive Digital Media 2012 (Friday's Exam!!)

Hey anyone doing VET IDM this year! Is anyone else absolutely flipping out about this exam of Friday??? I know I'm worried! Does anyone have any advice on how to go well on this exam since there's no textbook?!?!? Help me

It's nice to know that there is someone out there that is doing IDM an actually cares about it! I found notes on the forum for the subject and I made around 100 cue cards and I've learnt most of them, but it's killing me how there aren't many practice exams because I want to know what kind of questions vcaa will ask us.

My teacher through the year has been focusing on the sacs during the year and I only realised a few weeks ago that I knew almost no theory so I made cue cards and learnt them. I still don't know how ill go on the exam because when it comes to section b I struggle to explain the questions about production teams!

Anyway that's my life story I think I'm sort of ready for the practical component but I haven't timed myself to see if I can it all in under an hour!

If you could tell me your experience throughout the year as well so I know where I am compared to one other student outside of my class.

Oh and no one in my class cares, there are a few kids who are really good designers but I don't think they know any theory or have studied at all.

I've also been thinking how I can get the mark I want >45 (if that's even possible) but I keep on thinking someone has to get the highest mark and why can it be me, but then I think that scores do I need I haven't done enough practice exams to understand where I am at or time management.

100 cue cards! Wow that's as bad as me! I have 35 A4 pages of revision I've been practising for the last few weeks!

My teacher hasn't been focusing on anything all year we've sort of just drifted around doing very little all year! I have been trying my hardest regardless and got 24/25, 24/25 and 25/25 for my 3 SACs, let's just hope that cuts it 

Yeah my class has been sort of mixed on the care factor, 2 or so have been getting ready for the exam the rest are just going to wing it.

I'm most certainly not the best designer in our class I'm probably the worst but I've still got awesome marks because I've applied the little I know

It's meant to be a bit funny, so understand it's a bit of a joke at some points 

How have you gone on SACs? I want to know how people outside my class went!

Have you done all the practice exams since 2001? My teacher did do at least one good thing and manage to find the full exam style ones for pre-2010, I just hope I can do the practical fast enough too!

I had pages and pages of notes and I turned them into cue cards because I couldn't focus with so much writing on the pages.

We only got our first sac marks back (teacher a little slack) but I got 25/25 so I'm happy and I've put a lot of worm into the other ones.

That's cool. We didn't have to make a video for any of our sacs, wish we could have done that, but wouldn't help for the exam to be honest.

I've done the 2011/2009 exam about 3 times each and the practical of 2010 which was really hard to make the green spray, I ran out of time and just left it out but otherwise I was able to complete the rest of the practical.

We got a companies practice exam for 2010 but that was really easy. Do you think there will be any tough flash animations on the exam because I only learnt how to use it about a month ago and I am very good at the basics but if they make anything advanced like the spray morphing I'm doomed .

Do you know anything about the marks on the exam like what you need to get a 40 or 45+?

Are the really early exams good? Like anything hard that I should try and cram in tomorrow before the exam

Yeah it was really fun making videos, even if Premiere Pro isn't part of the exam!

Yeah for the spray I just tried using the literal spray can tool, probably would lose a mark or two for that!

I hope the practical animation is not too time consuming, I couldn't finish that one with the can on time at all. The previous exams are really quite useful, however I don't know how you'd go about getting them since it's so close to the exam time. If you do manage to remember that scripting is no longer part of the study design.

The scores are doubled in that because there are two assessors. Also a 40 would be just getting into the A+ bracket which is 66/90 or above (easy I know right??) and considering a 45+ is the top 2% you'll be looking at the top 20% of the top bracket so I predict a 45+ is about 85 or above.

Do you know how to stop a flash animation from looping without using code?

And do you know how to make a colour transparent in flash?

That will be tough to get higher then a 45

Hey guys, didn't see this before the exam but how do you think you went?
I found out that some of the terms weren't even in the study design (animatic, rotoscoping) and quite a few schools have complained so maybe we'll have a few questions cut out!

I hope so but I emailed VCAA and they said quote: "VCAA treats all students the same way and all correct answers will be awarded marks."
