Hey guys,
So I did methods in year 11 and got a raw 41, which I'm pretty upset about since I put in a lot of work. And this year as I continued with spesh 3/4, I picked up uni extension maths and further maths (I guess as a plan B). Not surprising, the existence of a plan B just made me more okay with the fact that I was struggling with uni maths, so naturally I dropped out. Looking back, that's honestly a pretty good choice, especially considering the current remote learning situation.
Going into further this year, I thought it would be pretty easy considering I genuinely enjoy maths subjects. However, with the rate of teaching during class, it soon became unengaging. To correct myself, I don't necessarily find further maths difficult, I'm just not engaged with the content, which results in me not wanting to put in the work for it. In comparison, I love what we are learning in spesh so far, it's actually so interesting and I willingly put in hard work. Whereas I find a lot of further content dry and requires some extent of memorization which I hate.
All of these factors are compounded by the fact that only two of the maths subjects can be your primary 4 subjects. Even though I only got 41 in methods, it will scale up to around 46. And spesh scales up by approx 11, so as long as I get into the high 30s, it will scale really well, I'm hoping it will scale up at least more than methods. That means, in order to make further 'worth' putting in a lot of work, I should be aiming at getting at least raw 48 in order for it to be my one of my primary 4 subjects, even so, it's not really worth it considering it wouldn't be much higher than my scaled methods score. So....I don't even know why I'm doing further apart from it being a 'filler' subjects to reach a total of 6 subjects. I don't know if I should I should give it all for further, or just let go and comfortably get in the low 40s. I know I should always be trying my best, but I HAVE TO do well in English, chemistry and spesh, which is not that easy.
