Just curious if you're aiming for raw 50 in methods is getting 39/40 in exam 1 dangerous?

I was under the impression that to get raw 50 methods you’d generally only be able to drop a maximum of 2 marks across both exams. So, you’d generally need to get 79/80 on exam 2 to compensate. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, since I’m not too sure about this.

nope one of my friends in 2016 and also know someone in 2012 who got 39/40 but ended up getting a 50. The 2016 guy maybe dropped another in exam 2 but the 2012 one full marked exam 2. You'd rather be losing marks on exam 1 than exam 2. 39/40 and 80/80 beats 40/40 and 79/80 statistically (although both would be 50's)

edit: it's not dangerous since you still have a chance but ideally you'd want to full mark e1 because e2 there will be questions (generally) that are not straight forward.

For a 35-39 I would say a low A in exam 1 and a high B+ in exam 2 would suffice the 35-37 region (this is from looking at the GA of my seniors/peers who did methods last year) and for a 38-39 an A+ in exam 1 and an A would probably be needed in exam 2.
