According to my teacher, most of the state teachers choose S&M because it is the easiest and the other 2 topics were introduced after S&M hence S&M having more questions on past exams as well as the topic being easier to understand and answer. But this might be a disadvantage though.

My school is doing further electronics... any possible way to do M&S instead since it's much easier?

Of course, on the exam you can do any section you want to! The school just teaches one (usually only one), but its your choice to which one you want to do on the exam.

Yes, that's the downside

Going to try and convince her to change to M&S then since we have a weak cohort.

My school did structures last year; what I did was learn both relativity and structures and do both in practice exams. That way you essentially do both completely. Then before the exam you decide which area you're more confident in, and in the exam if you are not going to be short on time, have a look at both of the sections and make a final decision.

I ended up just doing structures in the exam anyway. But yeah, relativity is definitely interesting.
