1 -> 2 -> 6 -> ? -> 23.

I'm a Carlton supporter, too, so double :(. :(:(

I'm gonna stick with my gut from now on. I hate when changed tips turn out wrong.

Being a Richmond fan this season is looking like its going to be a mighty long one, and I need to vent.

Several issues are glaring us in the face and something really has to be done.

Coaching: Wallaces "5 year plan" is absolute bullshit and was just a way to keep him in the job for the full term, because he could always use that as an excuse. To be 0-3 at the start of a 5th season as coach is completely unacceptable when we should be challenging for a flag. He has been without question a complete and utter failure. Really no chance of coaching next year. Sheedy is a possibly canditate for replacement but I'm not so sure he's what we should be looking for. Mark Williams is also likely to be coming back to Melbourne to coach next year but I reckon hes a bit of a pric and would rather a random no name to be honest.

Recruitment: Has been very ordinary for a long period of time. We have not learnt a thing from Frawleys mistakes in 2002. Repeately our coach thinks we're better than we are, and "topping up" our list is just the thing we need to get into contention from a flag. Recycled players picked up in the PSD like McMahon, Graham, Knobel, etc. should never have been taken and were/are just liabilities and hacks. Our selections from the draft have been pretty shitty also. Picking up Fiora(over Pavlich), Tambling(over Buddy), Okleigh-Nicholls etc. are just embarresing and have all been massive dissapointments. Perhaps it is unfair to single out young kids and expect them to do well but Richmond seems to have continually picked out duds. Cotchin was the obvious one and thank god we got him.

Skills: Absolutely shocking and among the worst in the league. Not sure if theres something in the water down at Punt Road but we have been consistently shit in this area for years. Opposition sides know if they put us under the pump we will crumble. Getting handball-happy and missing straightforward passes has become habbit. The amount of turnovers even when players are not under pressure is

Medical: Obviously not a major determinant in our poor performances, but sending Cousins back on the ground after complaining of hamstring soreness in round 1? Surely the alarm bells were ringing with Cousins at 30 and having a history of hamstring troubles. Common sense.

Spirit: Not as clear cut as the others, but at times we just don't even have a crack. Too many players aren't willing to get their hands dirty for the team. Coughlan was a massive loss afew years ago and I think we've missed him more than we know. Richo has a dip every week but some are simply not interested.

Conclusion: Get rid of: Wallace, Tambling, Bowden, McMahon, Shultz, Edwards and afew more I can't think of right now.

Sorry for that but it's bloody frustrating to sit through year after year of absolute vomit-worthy performances. I AM FKN SICK OF IT.

lol, you can't just terminate everyone's contracts. But the drafting by Richmond hasn't been too flash. Most teams have a bad patch lasting a few seasons and they are back up there eventually but Richmond have been constantly disappointing. Imagine having drafted Deledio and Lance Franklin in the one year, or Pavlich before that. The idea of giving the team that came at the bottom of the ladder the first draft pick is that they recruit future superstars, not patch up their team or fill up vacant positions. Also, when Richmond hits the bottom, it's always somewhere near the bottom, but not rock bottom. It's not like Carlton, where they tank and wooden-spoon and get priority picks and snap up Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, top it all off with Judd and all of a sudden they are top 4 contenders and everyone's jumping on the bandwagon.

As for the skills, they are AFL footballers and they have the skills there somewhere. I think part of the problem is the pressure to perform that's coming from all corners. If you go around thinking that a clanger kick may lose you your spot in the team you are more likely to make mistakes. But unfortunately, pressure is not released unless you have really good support staff or unless you manage to string together a few wins. And beating Melbourne doesn't count.

The way I see it, the people mentioned are not going to get us to where we want to be, that is, in contention for a flag. They've been given many chances but always fail to perform when it counts. Unfortunately, I think we need a serious clean out and start again from the bottom. With afew promising youngsters, I doubt it would take another 5 years to rebuild, more like 2-3.

Honestly, I don't buy the "pressure to perform" argument. They're proffessionals, they play football for a living. Some of the mistakes are unforgivable for people earning that much. Pressure to lose your spot should motivate you more if anything. Furthermore, players on the fringe should be having a red-hot go at every contest. That is certainly not the case currently.

I don't know, countless dissapointments have taken there tole on me as a footy fan.
