I have no idea what’s the difference between their breadths and majors etc. I’ve been to open days read through posts from 2010 on AN which suggested downloaded the handbook which I have but still don’t understand what’s are majors minors and breadth! I guess I know majors sort of but breadth! Melbourne has and Monash doesn’t?
Also apparently (according to people on here) the breadths at Melbourne are annoying and they force you to take wine tasting and gender studies??? I’m not sure if that’s a joke but I probably need to know.
Because of the Melbourne Model only UniMelb has breadth subjects. They're not limited to wine tasting and gender studies though don't worry. You can learn languages, subjects from other degrees, and other fun stuff. You can find out what their breadth subjects are on their website. I personally think breadth subjects are quite cool because you are becoming a more all-rounded person (which is what the uni is trying to achieve). The melbourne model is only run in Melbourne Uni, so Monash doesn't have it
Edit: Also I don't think breadth subjects are part of your degree in the sense that it's not going to be on your resume that you did 'wine tasting' as a breadth subject right next your majors and minors.
