What a week it has been. I am a bit worried about our coming match against the Dons..... we did "okay" against the Bulldogs but it wasn't the best performance of the season.

North Melbourne have made an aggressive $5 million offer for Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey.

The starting offer is for $1 million a year for five years for the young out-of-contract Pies star.

Thoughts?

Too much.

I agree we need possibly 1 or 2 more high-end talent but I think that money should be better spent on our guys first for their development. We have a real good few, as evident in our season so far.

Bloody good player, though, and sounds as though you have the salary cap room. Would be a nice addition.

Sure... I don't deny that.

Personally wouldn't be surprised if Jarrad Waite retires at the end of the year.... chuck in Scott Thompson too (although I think he will go another year). We have a stockpile of guys sitting in the VFL at the moment just waiting for their chance, too.

So is the objection more like, team morale/culture-based?

I suppose so. We've had some guys in the VFL/reserves for a while now who have been with us for at least a few years who haven't had a shot at AFL level yet. It's great to see players like Majak who have been with us for 8-9 years finally fitting into our AFL side on a consistent basis.  Somebody like Braydon Preuss is being under-utilised and wasting away in the VFL. His hit out numbers in the VFL are insane but can't get in because we have Majak, Ben Brown and Goldy as the rucks in the AFL team. Wouldn't be surprised if he tries to jump ship soon.

I mean, could you imagine somebody like Shaun Higgins who is in brownlow contention, getting paid less than someone like Jordan De Goey? Meh.... dunno about you but I wouldn't like that.

I don't like players leaving for financial reasons so it goes against my own morals I suppose. Luckily I don't manage the team :P

Get your tips in if you haven't already!

My tip for tonight: Richmond by 10.

Why is this being played at Etihad? Who knows...
