The whole fight-flight thing has to do with our chances of surviving so that we can reproduce. Thats the theory. I'd say its got something to do with increasing chances of reproduction but I honestly cant think how getting hard would help in most situations. Perhaps itd weird out an attacker?

i dont think it quite does...

unless what you're saying is that to protect myself against people who would want to stab me (I live in Noble Park, so a real possibility), is to have a wank if they dare take a swing at me.

Maybe the thought of it gives you adrenaline and so you can run away more efficiently. You also now have a sword, but that's actually the parasympathetic nervous system talking.

What's...the question exactly? Stimulation would be governed by peripheral somatic nerves. Erection is governed by the parasympathetic system. Only ejaculation involves a sympathetic component. I don't see how dealing with a threat and excitation of the genitals is exactly linked.
