are we required to know the exact eqns for the dry cell, button cell, etc..?
so far i only know the diaphragm/membrane, hall-heroult, downs, and a little bit of fuel cells (im not even sure how much we must know for it though)

No. It is expected that you can take the full equation and write half equations and vice versa. And that includes writing half equations in alkaline solutions I think. Fuel cells is the same deal (if they only use hydrogen/oxygen, they're on the electrochemical series anyway)

It is a good idea though to learn the car battery one because that comes up a lot but, even though you don't have to know it.

They might ask you to label the anode and cathode. But it's unlikely. Then again who knows what questions VCAA will include in this year's exam
