Hey everyone,

Do we need to send our mid year, semester 1 reports to JMSS, prior to the testing day?

Hey clarke54321,
I do not think so because the JMSS test is one week before the end of term (for public schools) so I doubt many people will have their reports then and when I signed up for the test it never mentioned anything on bringing my report. If you get an interview I think it is highly recommended to bring in your semester one report.

I think about eight-hundred people tried out last year. Four-hundred got an interview and two-hundred got in. So last year people had a twenty five percent chance of gaining admission to JMSS (Which is quite high). I presume that more people are going to try out this year.

Depends on the year as the number fluctuates. My year had about ~ 900-1000 students. About like 400 get an interview, and 200 (100 males, 100 females) make it in :)

If you get an interview you will need to put together all your reports and academic achievements and anything else that you think might help you gain entrance to JMSS. All those details will be email to u along with the invitation for the interview.

Hey guys, just thought I'd point out a very good mathematical problem solving website that has lots of AMC style questions. MathFights.com is free and will teach you new concepts as well as revising previous knowledge and working on speed.

Okay, thanks! I reaaaalllly hope I get in. And yah, SAO is awesome. Especially Asuna :P You're trying out this year too yeah?

Also, it would be super helpful if anyone could tell me like what the science part of the exam is? Some people tell me it's a report, some say it's an essay. D:

Well, there are three science parts of the exam. The first is science reasoning which I assume you are familiar with (basically numerical reasoning but with science related questions), then there are two science writing pieces which probably go for around 15 minutes (correct me if I'm wrong). The first writing piece is an essay. They'll give you a topic and ask you to write about that topic so for example, what is the difference between a cell and an atom. You should flick through every chapter of your year 9/year 10 science textbook, maybe takes some notes as well to prepare for this section. The second writing piece is a prac report I'm pretty sure (again, correct me if I'm wrong). You'll be given another topic and they'll ask you to write a prac. Just make sure to familiarize yourself with the standard structure of a prac report (prac details -> aim -> hypothesis -> etc) and you'll be fine.

Omg, thank you so much! That's just the info I needed. And then numerical reasoning and maths too right? Thanks again!

Guys what is harder, the interview or the test. Cause according to friends and family, the test is essay and the interview is hard. That makes me nervous cause, in my school their are a lot of sporty and extra curricular people.

Thanks in advance

Hey sjayy_34,
From personal experience I found the interview much more difficult than the actual test. I would not say that the tests are easy however, but if you know what you're doing then you should be fine. It may be a good idea to get into some extra curricular activities but it's really up to you.
