Thank you for all your help guys
I will study hard.
Hi, I am a former Creekside Student and am currently a Melbourne High student. Creekside has a special program for talented kids. It's nothing like SEAL but it gives you more challenging work. Basically the only way you can join the special program is by your teachers referring you to the teacher operating the class (Who I believe should be Ms Verstageen I hope that's how you spell her name). You can't really ask to join the program, after your teacher refers you to the program you have to sit a couple of tests and usually if your in the top 8 or 9 students in year 8 you should be able to join the program. I'm not sure who you have this year, but if you do have Mr Bieg by any chance talk to him about wanting to go to MacRob he has some experience with the Selective School Program as he was a student teacher at MHS. Mr Bieg was my teacher last year 😀! Good Luck!

Hi
Does anyone know if in Hendersons, all the branches are the same or are there more preferred ones?
Thanks!
 :)
All the same. Although I went to the Glen Waverly and classes in the East to hopefully find some kids from high ranked schools (SEAL and Private) and to see how intelligent they were.

Hi Rick
I was wondering if you knew how many students wrote the exam and how many people got in
And also Mr Bieg left the school
Do you know any other teachers that will be helpful for the Selective school.
Thanks!

Hey there people ;) some of you may remember me from last years selective exam.

Thanks Pi for all the tips on getting into MHS, I just won the junior cockhouse here as Forrest, hopefully we go to win the house cup.

Anyways, for comprehension, the best thing to do is to skip to all the easy definition type questions and answer them as quickly as possible, after that, go to all the ones with shorter texts as you can get through them faster, don't do the poems if you suck at them.

Know your practice exam topics, last year a complete replica of a text in the practice exam came up on the test and I managed to answer about 7 questions in 20 seconds due to that.

Other than that, just keep reading and improve your comprehension skills to a point where you can easily breeze through a text and understand it, start out with newspapers such as the herald sun.

Good luck :)

PS. The swimming carnival is tomorrow, what tram line do I take to MSAC once I reach flinders -_-

It will be given out a week before the exam.

From my memory, it was:

Verbal
Numerical
Persuasive
/break/
Comprehension
Maths
Creative

I think it was like that, been a while since I took the exam, might be different

Oh well

Forrest for life <3 I only had the pleasure of tasting the Cock House once in 2010, was a highlight of my time at MHS :)

Swimming carnival is tomorrow :P
Got some of the best teachers here.

De korte for home room.
Kemp for Japanese
Veale for PE and health
Also someone else, I think it was Mt Moore for geography, he is the second longest serving teacher here and is an Essendon supporter, maybe got the name wrong.

Well anyways, gotta go find a nice blue outfit for tomorrow

Haha I'd rather not talk much about any teachers (because I respect them all!), but Veale is an absolute legend haha

Just remember that like 95% of people don't actually finish the tests. So if you get to the 2 minute left mark and you still have a bunch left, just choose a letter and go with it.

Strong like its pillars the school stands BEEHHIIINNND UUUUUUUUUUUS (cause de korte forces us to say it like that)

As a former Creekside student, I can answer for Rick. Last year, around 20 students tried out for the test. But only 10 got in because of the 5% percent cut off mark. In 2014, I only know 4 people who got in, but no idea how many tried.
Don't really know any teachers that can help, but you can ask the teachers for harder work.
