LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS THREAD!!!
Piano related story: My parents told me that I asked my mum to let me have piano lessons when I was two or three and she refused, thinking I was too young. I was a really strong-willed child back then so I got really cross, marched to the piano and apparently played Mary Had a Little Lamb by ear... After that, my parents decided to teach me piano until I turned nine hahaha...
I stopped playing a few years ago but I've been picking it up again since last year... I'm learning/ trying to learn Chopin's Revolutionary Etude... I used to be really sick of playing the piano, especially while doing grades, but now I really enjoy it and it's an awesome way to relax and de-stress.... especially in yr 12... T_T
YAY I'm also learning that etude
well, in the loose sense of the word; it's one of the many pieces I've lately been picking up and practising at completely random intervals.
I begged and begged to play the piano but wasn't allowed lessons till I was nine, though I started self-teaching from a book beforehand. I was... enthusiastic.
Fun fact: turns out Joseph41 and I shared the same piano teacher long before we met on AN
I started piano at age 3, mum was a piano teacher and introduced me to it. Had offers to go to Juilliard School of Music after high school but declined. Still playing a bit nowadays whenever I'm taking a break from research
This is when I was 13 performing at Melbourne Arts Centre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl-rOszM67M
This is insane and you put us all to shame! That's on a totally different level from our (well, my) amateurish enjoyment of playing
(I love Saint-Saens' 2nd so much though <3)
Also: good to see the famed TrueTears back hahahaha, welcome
