How is ATAR calculated?
« on: February 15, 2020, 10:15:19 pm »

Hello, my subjects are:
Physics, Maths Methods, Maths general, Biology, Psychology, and English
Does atar take into account my best 5 subjects or does it account for every 6 of my subjects?
Thanks.

Hi Delis101 :)

According to the QCAA, the ATAR is made up of the scores from your best five subjects. It seems that the sixth (lowest scoring) subject is disregarded in the calculation.

This could be good for you in the sense that it provides you with a bit of breathing room. For example, if you have a bad day on an exam or find English (a compulsory subject) particularly difficult, you won't have to worry about it mucking up your ATAR.

Hope I was able to help and welcome to the forums ;D
