omg yes i did one on one tutoring and spent SO MUCH time going through the 3 science textbooks and i regret it so bad bc barely anything was in the test. i didn’t study much for the maths part but w the essays, i would try to write one a day to practice.

hey y’all, i’m new to atarnotes.

i did my interview on wednesday and i was wondering how long were ur interviews? mine was like 17 mins and the two ladies i had were super nice, but one didn’t talk much as she was just taking notes. she asked some tricky q’s here and there though.

I did my interview on Wednesday as well mine went for around the same length of time as you, like 17-20 mins? But I had male interviewers.

I have a pretty irrelevant question now, but how hard did everyone study for the exam? Did anyone do tutoring and if you did was it any help? I’m asking because I have a lot of friends who went to tutoring and studied for hours and still didn’t get past the test. Just want to know if it makes a difference.
Well I did tutoring in the past, so my basics and everything would be better than most, I quit a while back. For the JMSS exam, I didn’t go for any special tutoring or anything, I kinda just flipped through my old textbooks and reviewed trigonometry cuz I’m bad at it and winged it. I didn’t decide to go to the exam until the last minute.

I did a bit of tutoring but it was more focused on exam strategies and getting used to the way the exams are set out, definitely helped me (and even if I don't get in it's still important to be able to take exams well so I'm glad I did it). I didn't spend ages on it tho, I did like 6 weeks of it with a few weeks break (COVID rescheduling) between the end of it and the exam.

Insta-Instagram. I studied pretty hard during the last months. I would study for the maths and nr a lot as I had those tests and I found them very easy. I use to go two tuitions where I submitted essays and we did tests. I found one of the tuitions very easy so I quit that and stayed at James an which was harder. I usually practiced essays one a week and I averaged higher than 86%. I often neglected the essays thinking there would be no essays. I usually went through the science year 9/10 book this helped quite a lot. I feel that the info I learned was a bit irrelevant and the test was much easier than expected.

mine was about 20 minutes too, I don't think it'll matter too much how long it was, provided you made a good impression - just luck of the draw a bit as to what questions you got and how long you could talk about them for. :)

I’m sure you did fine. In the end, they don’t care about how much you say, just whether or not your answers and points were good.

When I look back and recall, I think I  could have done much better in my interview and expressed my views more clearly, but it was overall a good interview experience.
