True. But that's Australia's dilemma. We don't have any good keepers that can bat (that aren't too old).

Renshaw may be a little cooked and might need a break.

Your thoughts on our no.6?All rounder vs specialist batter? We 4 bowlers should be enough for ODI's or test cricket, ... so maybe specialist batter?
I think if you want to only play 4 bowlers (no genuine allrounder) you need 4 good ones including 1-2 "great ones" Aus really only have 3-3.5 good and another option is always good just to change things up.

Predictions for day 1?
i'll wait till the toss and when I see the conditions for this  ;D

won't happen but....I would've gone with(order taken into account for top 7)
1. Renshaw
2. Warner
3. Smith
4. Khawaja
5. Handscomb
6. Bancroft
7. Paine (wk)
8. Starc
9. Lyon
10. Hazlewood
11.Bird

I'm pumped! I actually really like the 6 bats/1 keeper/4 bowlers set-up. I have nothing against all-rounders in general; I just feel that to justify selection, they should be able to be picked in one specialisation alone. As pure batsmen, I have reservations with both Maxwell and Cartwright. I still think the actual make-up of the team could be improved, though.

Where's Maxi???
This would be my team:
Warner, Bancroft, Khawaja, Smith (c), Handscomb, Maxwell, Nevill, Starc, Cummins, Lyon, Hazlewood.
If we want a batsman at 6 rather than an allrounder, don't forget that Maxi has a first class average of 40+, but my other option would be Jake Lehmann. Definitely not very happy with the Paine and Marsh selections.
[EDIT: Also it cannot be forgotten that Maxi is (a) the incumbent no. 6, and (b) the best fielder in Australia.]

Depending on fitness, Maxwell might get a gig after all.

There's something sort of romantic about listening to the cricket.

I haven't been able to watch a single minute. Summary?
I watched all of the morning session and a bit of the afternoon session but nothing after that unfortunately, but I'll summarise what I saw.

The pitch was quite soft at the start, and so the ball wasn't carrying through to the keeper. Cook nicked off early to Starc, but Stoneman and Vince built a nice partnership that layed a strong foundation for the English. Through the first session, Hazlewood was pretty average, spraying the ball all over. Cummins was very nice with the ball though. The run rate was quite slow throughout the day, but I guess you could say that the bowling was pretty good, and the outfield wasn't the fastest either. Not to mention the slight slowness of the pitch. Rain began during lunch, and play didn't resume until iirc 2:15 Brisbane time. I didn't watch much after that.

After the rain, the Brits continued to build their lead... until....
1. Cummins bowled Stoneman (right through the middle of his castle). (Stoneman put up a great fight)
2. Vince got run out by Lyon (bad decision to take a single) .. though he did put up a big fight,.
3. Cummins got Joe Root out (which wasn't detected by the umpire, until it was referred). Joe Root didn't look that comfortable against him anyways!
4. There were now 2 new batters (Malan and Ali)... Tim Paine dropped one catch off Lyon (who bowled beautifully at a great economy rate)
5. Near the end of the Day, Starc nearly lbw'd one of the batters (but it was predicted to hit out of line with the wickets)..

Haha, gotta love how the only state it seemed to rain in yesterday was Queensland :( Don’t really have much insight to add, but I’d say if Aussies are batting a few hours after lunch (or possibly even after lunch, maybe?) and keep them to <350 they’d be doing ok
ahhh it rained/lightly hailed around my house :P
