I know the answer is 2, but I found that it can also be -6!

I resolved the equation into partial fractions using complex numbers, solved it with logarithms, equated the values ( I even used Euler's identity) and got a to equal -6. I checked it on my calculator and it worked! My mind has been blown...


nevermind, i screwed up somewhere because you get the negative version of the answer haha  ::)
