Choosing a VCE subject

Hello!
I need help with picking one last subject for Year 11, more of a chill subject.
At my school, it is compulsory to do English and Religion, so that's two subjects.
I am now left with 5 electives and I've chosen 3&4 Methods, 3&4 Further Mathematics, 1&2 Visual Communication, and 1&2 Physics.

As you can tell I love maths, but I am really not willing to do another maths such as specialists.
I am into art and music but I'm not willing to do TWO portfolios and I feel kind of useless in music so uhm ye.
And I am not a sciencey person.

So I am a VERY complicated person... Sorry  :'( :-X

Hey there katay3! Picking subjects is definitely hard - I remember struggling a lot with what to choose. Have you thought about doing something like history, legal studies, or something business related? If you don't want to do another maths (which would be a lot to handle!) and don't want to do two portfolios (cause portfolios are a lot of work, aren't they?!), then these are the other areas that you might want to be looking at - i.e. humanities (history, geography) and business/commerce (legal studies, accounting etc.). Probably one of the most important things in all this is to pick something that you are interested in, and something that you like, because this is what you are probably going to do best in! Hope this helps a bit :)

Welcome to the forums, kaytay3! :D

What subjects does your school offer? Perhaps we could work through the options? :)

Hey!

I was in a similar situation to you. Compulsory re. Extra spot but not sure what to do. Looked for a chill subject and I too really enjoy math.

I've decided to pick up accounting (not sure if it's entirely chill ahah) but it's definelty math (but not spec math level phew). If your not into that, possible economics or another commerce subject, but if you really do like math and are willing to put in some work, accounting may be a good choice. Good luck mate  :)

Many people don't recommend Methods, unless it's a pre-requisite, but if you're willing to put in the work I'm sure you'll do well. If you're looking for a 'more chill' subject, maybe further or accounting?
(2016) - Literature

(2017) - Mathematical Methods, Chemistry, English, Legal Studies, Economics

2018- B Commerce (Commercial Law)/B Law

What are your plans for the future? :)

The subject you pick could depend on what you want to later study / work as. Some uni courses are laid out such that you can "skip" subjects if you've done the relevant 3/4 subject (in some cases it's almost expected) so that could also affect your decision.

Also, some great suggestions here  :D
Completed VCE 2016

2016: Methods | Physics | Chemistry | Specialist Maths | Literature
