How hard is civil engineering

Hello. I am thinking of changing my major to civil now as i am finding electrical ridiculously hard.  Is there any dynamics involved like the one we did in eng mech? Because I am really bad at that but fine with statics.
Is it hard to pass the subjects?
Thanks!

Hey Inside Out!

I've seen you post before, from what I gathered you just finished third year right?

Would you be able to go into more detail why you think Electrical is so hard? (Maybe a quick outline of the subjects?)
What's it like compared to FoEN? Twice as hard? Five times? Lol

I heard that second year to third year engineering is a huge step up, I'd love to hear something from your perspective.

And I know Chysim is currently doing his/her Masters in Civil Engineering at Melbourne.

Well supposedly third yr but no at this rate i won't be finished till end of nxt yr. It's just hard. Too much thinking. Too much brain power lol. I mean, why would i put myself through this when i do better in non electrical subjects, with half the effort? I found Enad actually better than Foen, but i think i was just lucky and the exam was set easy that sem. All the other 3rd year electrical subjects.. good luck. It's hard hard hard hard.
Digital is badly taught. But it always gets scaled.
Edm is the hardest. Probably flunked. Every question is like no other you have seen before.
Signals is okay. Think eng maths but 5 times more work due to its difficulty.
I chose electrical engineering because maths is my strongest point, but a maths major would probably be easier than this (from my experience with maths subjects).

I'm stupidly busy right now but I'll try to give a good response after I've finished exams (wednesday).
UoM | Bachelor of Environments (Civil Systems): 2012-2014 | Master of Engineering (Civil): 2015-2016 |

Feel free to shoot me a PM pertaining to getting to M.Eng through the Environments course, or the Envs/Eng courses in general.

I was thinking of a possible switch to engineering myself anyone know which one would be the best to do out of biomedical, chemical or software in regards to career prospects as all look like very interesting fields. :)

Civil is perhaps the easiest engineering at melbourne.
Civil systems major is just the enhancement of Engineering materials and Earth processes for Engineering, atleast when it comes to the difficulty of the subjects.

the major subjects in Civil systems are:
1. Fluid Mechanics: a very mathy subject but its easier than its Mechanical counter part (Thermodynamics and Fluid mechanics)

2. Engineering risk analysis: a really easy subject, perhaps the easiest level 3 engineering subject (based on what i have heard)

3. Structural Theory and Design: basically an enhancement of the statics component from Engineering mechanics

4. Systems Modelling: is the combination of Earth Processes for Engineering, Fluid and Eng Materials

compared to Electrical engineering, the maths in Civil engineering is much easier,, its basically just plugging in the equations, but the assignments are a total pain in the ass as opposed to electrical where you just do some questions

Civil is easier than other engineering majors but doing it is still not easy, so expect yourself to be working just as hard.
unlike electrical and mechanical though. cramming for exams can help in civil
