Well depends what you consider as a crap score, what you consider a good uni, whether the uni course even requires the UMAT. The UMAT is used for health science courses such as Med. Also, different unis place different weighting on the UMAT. Although as a general rule, the higher your ENTER, the lower your UMAT score can afford to be to get into the course. However, your UMAT score has to be high enough (last year it was like top 10% for monash i think) to get an Interveiw for a course such as Med.

So to sum it up, yes, you can get in with this 'crap' enter- but killing the umat is the key.

One third each actually according to Monash. I have doubts though since from what I've seen, ENTER is negligible.

For which course are you referring to? Med, dent, physio, pharm, what? Do you actually know what the UMAT is or have you just found out about it?

Melbourne doesn't have undergraduate medicine, dental science, optometry or physiotherapy this year and beyond (Melbourne Model thing). Oral Health is still running though (not as competitive to get into this one).

Monash has undergraduate med, physio and pharm. More considerable? Hm. Well you need a decent UMAT score to even score an interview for med at Monash. There's no interview for pharm, they just look at ENTER and UMAT.

For Melbourne participants, it's held at Caulfield Racecourse with half of the people doing it in one session, and then the other half of the people doing it almost immediately after.
