I have a question on delta epsilon proof, let's say that f(x)=cos(x), how do I prove with delta epsilon that lim x->1 f(x) = cos(1)?

What's the definition of cos given in your course? What counts as a proof depends on this and what you already know I guess.

mm there's a question on the assignment where f(x)= (x^2+x-2)/(x-1) + cos(x) and we have to find the limit as x approaches 1, it didn't really say that I have to proof the limit exists but I thought that I should do it anyways. We haven't learnt much about proving a limit exists other than some basic delta epsilon proof with simple function in MTH2010.
